Advocating for patients in Alberta and Western Canada
In February 2005, GPDA submitted a comprehensive 46 page document to our Minister of Health. This document outlined the need to approve gastric electrical stimulation (GES), aka: Enterra™ Therapy; and provided a vision for Western Canadian GI motility Centre of Excellence.
In 2006 the Alberta of Health made a determination to decline coverage for GES.
In February 2007, GPDA has resubmitted a request for a full review of the determination process and a request to immediately approve GES for the treatment of symptomatic diabetic gastroparetic patients.
