Our vision: A world where children, men and women suffering from digestive motility diseases are comprehended by the general public and are provided compassionate, competent medical care, all the while being reassured that progress for effective treatments and a cure is robustly funded.

GPDA has been established in order to try to find solutions through supporting research, increasing public awareness, and providing information to those who suffer with gastroparesis and related gastrointestinal dysmotilities.

• Awareness: Bring awareness of gastroparesis and related dysmotility disorders to the public, to the social and family units of the individuals suffering, to the medical profession and to other non-profit entities.
• Educate via printed educational materials, maintenance of a high-quality Web site and lectures/presentations.

• Access to proven effective treatments by preparing policy papers.

• Support research and researchers’ efforts: Help increase dialogue between researchers through support for scientific meetings, by providing seed money for research projects, by engaging in dialogue to challenge negative dogma.
• Communicate a vision for more diagnostic tools, treatment options and facilities.

It is our belief that research efforts directed towards finding answers for gastroparesis, the most common of the more severe motility problems, will help to uncover answers for many other related gastrointestinal motility diseases and disorders. Gastroparesis is often accompanied by other motility problems of the esophagus, small intestine and colon.
