Food intervention topics
Management of chronic digestive symptoms must begin with dietary steps. It is important to note that gastroparesis really represents a problem of abnormal motor function within the stomach and upper small intestine. Symptom management can be challenging due to added layers of other problems such as:
Intolerance to a variety of sugars like fructose, lactose and sorbitol;
Dumping syndrome (rapid emptying of the stomach), especially for liquids;
Un-determined food allergies (Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis).
Diet interventions are further complicated for those who have gastroparesis secondary to problems such as; renal failure, post-surgical gastroparesis, and diabetic gastroparesis, to name a few…
